A welcome message from our new minister, Revd. Paul Rogers ...
On Saturday 5th September I began my ministry as Pastor of this church and I am excited about beginning this new chapter of our journey together.
As I have prayed for Eltham Park over the past few months, God has impressed upon me the importance of making relationships, both inside and outside the church. And so I will seek to get to know the church family, local community and area. I hope to spend lots of time meeting people who attend the church, hearing their stories and vision for the church. I also plan to spend time in the various groups, clubs and ministries of the church, watching and listening. Alongside this I will be spending large amounts of time in the local community, exploring the church’s current links, discovering what is happening in Eltham and seeking new opportunities for our ministry and mission.
I am also very excited about Sundays. In the mornings we will explore together the foundations of our faith using a series on ‘The Ten Commandments’, before turning to a traditional Advent approach to Christmas.
My family and I have already found Eltham Park Baptist Church to be a church committed to its vision to have “Faith to share and care” and I am looking forward to finding out more about its activities – Sunday mornings and evenings where we meet together for fellowship, corporate song, prayer and preaching from the Bible; small groups in people’s homes where relationships are deepened and the Bible is explored in more detail; God’s Galaxy where our children and young people are discipled; Boys and Girls Brigades, Playwell pre-school, the Friendship Centre and many other areas of service where each member finds their place and opportunity to develop gifts and skills.
I believe that it is important for me to spend this time listening to the church, the community and God. I may not be bringing a detailed vision for Eltham Park Baptist Church, but I bring a passion for God, His people and his mission.
We have a God who loves us as only a Heavenly Father can, and here at Eltham Park Baptist Church we long to know him more, and for others to know him too. Why not come and meet us, introduce yourself to me and find out more. We’d love to see you!
