A short message to the Church from our minister, Revd. Paul Rogers ...
From the Pastor’s Pen ...
Dear Friends,
It is with much joy that I write my first Christmas letter to the church family at Eltham Park. It has been a busy first few months here with you, but they have been good ones and I am thankful for how well my family has been welcomed into the life and heart of this church.
But I am also reminded that our Lord Jesus received no such welcome when he was born as one of us in Bethlehem. It saddens me that the story of the nativity is repeated countless times today by people who are too busy to welcome Jesus into their lives. I hope and pray that we who have been welcomed into the family of God will continue to welcome Jesus, friend and stranger into our lives on a daily basis.
As the turn of the year approaches I wonder what God has in store for us in 2010. We were touched deeply by Quench, but this was only a taste of what God has planned. I know that we must continue to assess our ministry and mission to the people of Eltham, Greenwich Borough and beyond. I know that some things will have to stop and others begin. I know that there will be good times and testing times.
Most importantly, however, I know that God is faithful and will lead us into the future He has prepared for us. God wants to build His Kingdom here in Eltham Park – making disciples that will make disciples; changing lives that will in turn change other lives. We must have eyes to see, ears to hear and hearts to obey His call on our lives. I pray that you will be a part of this exciting time!
May you know the blessing of seeing God do new things this Christmas and into the New Year.
