A short message to the Church from our minister, Revd. Paul Rogers ...
From the Pastor’s Pen ...
Dear Friends,
Just over a month ago we celebrated our Church Anniversary and we considered our calling to be “the salt of the earth”. We took away chocolates to give away in celebration of all God had done for us. We received fridge magnets to remind us of our calling “to make life taste better”. God uses those who trust in Jesus to preserve the good, cleanse the not so good and to make life taste better for everyone. Christians are distinctive, indeed we are necessary for healthy societies.
So how have you made life taste better recently? Whose life is fuller because of you?
Over the summer we will be inviting our neighbours into the church buildings for a Community BBQ with free food, fun and games; a chance to enjoy a few hours together and perhaps break down a few walls and prejudices (inside and outside the church); then we will be opening our premises once again for Wacky Wednesdays, another chance for families to relax together, sharing food and fun and building relationships, before the grand finale of Holiday Bible Club!
But let me ask you an awkward question – why? Why do we do these things? Surely it is because we believe that by so doing we will begin to make life taste better for people. Building bridges into our community and relationships with people who we can then introduce to Jesus, once we have gained their trust and respect. Introducing them to the one who loves them beyond their imagining, who offers healing from their past, help in their present and hope for their future.
So what will you do? How will you help? Who will you pray for? Now is the time to get involved.
“I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full” said Jesus (John 10v10). This is a life worth sharing This is a life that tastes better!
