A short message to the Church from our minister, Revd. Paul Rogers ...
From the Pastor’s Pen ...
Dear Friends,
It is so easy in this country to become insular, focusing in on ourselves and forgetting that there is a bigger picture and that we are part of something bigger. As minister of a local church it is easy for me to lose myself in the detail of church life and forget that we are all part of something bigger – the worldwide church of Jesus Christ. I’m sure that we all face this difficulty.
International Needs has, for me, been a spiritual life-saver. Building a network across the world between ‘richer’ western churches and ‘poorer’ churches in the developing world, IN has made a world of difference. My work with them has opened my eyes to the privileges that we take for granted here in Eltham Park, as well as the joy available to us as we take our responsibilities seriously and share what we have with those who have less. Over the past years I have been so blessed from my work with IN, and want us now, as a church and as individuals, to join in partnership with IN, specifically in Ghana.
IN Ghana need our help. They would like us to sponsor a church planter who can be released into the villages of the Upper Volta region and, through evangelism, begin to build a church of new converts. There is also the opportunity to travel as a group to Ghana in October to help with the building of a new school, running a Bible Holiday Club, or something similar. Whatever skills you have will be enthusiastically received and used. Additionally, the school is constantly looking for new child sponsors, whether as an individual or a group.
A partnership with International Needs is a great way of maintaining an awareness of the bigger picture and brings many blessings to Christians both here and abroad. IN seeks to make a world of difference in Ghana and they are asking for our help. Can we respond to their call?
